Can you tell us about yourself and your travel business?

We are Rainbow Travel Vietnam, a travel company based in Hanoi capital. We specialize in providing customized travel experiences to both individual and group travellers. Our team comprises experienced travel professionals passionate about sharing the beauty and unique culture of Vietnam with visitors from around the world.

Our services range from arranging tours and activities to transportation and accommodation, all tailored to meet our client’s specific needs and interests.

At Rainbow Travel Vietnam, we are committed to sustainable and responsible tourism and work closely with local communities to promote economic development and preserve cultural heritage.

When and how did you start your travel business?

We started our travel business in December 2004 as a small travel agency that mainly operated tours and travel services for Scandinavian customers. After 18 years of successful development, we changed our brand to “Rainbow Travel Vietnam.”

What has been the biggest challenge you have overcome in your business?

The biggest challenge we have faced in our business was definitely the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many businesses in the travel industry, we had to temporarily shut down operations to prioritize the safety and well-being of our team and customers. During this time, we worked hard to stay connected with our customers and maintain our relationships with them while also adapting our business to the new reality.

One of the biggest steps we took was to focus on sanitation and safety protocols for all of our trips and activities once we could start operating again. In addition, we made sure that our customers felt comfortable and secure while they were travelling, which required a lot of planning and coordination with our partners.

Ultimately, we overcame this challenge and began operating again safely and successfully. We are constantly adapting to new challenges as they arise, but the experience of navigating the pandemic has made our team stronger and more resilient.

What advice would you like to give fellow travel business owners about running a successful travel agency?

  • Determine your target market and focus on a specific niche to differentiate your travel agency from others.
  • Provide unique travel experiences to your customers by customizing their travel itineraries according to their preferences and budget.
  • Build a strong online presence: Having a user-friendly website, active social media accounts, and online booking options is crucial.
  • Collaborate with reputable suppliers to offer your clients quality services and competitive prices.

What must-have features in a travel website would you suggest to fellow travel business owners?

Mobile optimization: With more and more people using mobile devices to browse the web, having a responsive website that works well on smaller screens is essential.

Secure payment gateways: A travel website must provide secure payment options to protect users’ confidential information and ensure safe transactions.

Although your addon services are great, the yearly prices seem steep, particularly for a well-established travel company.

I would recommend exploring the possibility of offering one-time prices to make these services more accessible to your customers.
