We’re back with a fresh new update with WP Travel Engine v6.3.0!
This update primarily focuses on providing a more customizable checkout experience for you and your customers.
Additionally, it includes enhancements to the plugin and important bug fixes.
Let’s explore more.
Improvements to the Checkout Page
We are introducing a new template for the checkout page.
This template includes an updated user interface and design with collapsible card boxes, offering a cleaner and more organized layout.
The new template is compatible with both FSE and non-FSE themes.
Note: If you prefer, the previous checkout page template is still available. You can switch between the two templates at any time.
Along with the updated user interface, you now have more control over the checkout pages. You can:
- Show or hide the Travellers Information Form.
- Show or hide the Emergency Contact Form.
- Choose when to display the Travellers Information Form (after or during checkout).
- Collect information for all travellers or just one.
Additionally, you can now customize the following sections:
- Add or modify the “Additional Note” section.
- Show or hide the “Coupon Discount” section.
- Edit the Privacy Policy message.
- Edit the Footer Copyright message.
How to Configure the New Checkout Template
To use the new checkout template, you need to create a new page and assign the “WP Travel Engine – Checkout” template in the Page Settings.
You can refer to this documentation for detailed instructions.
After that, there are two methods for implementing the new checkout design:
1. Using Shortcode
Copy and paste this shortcode into your newly created checkout page: [WP_TRAVEL_ENGINE_PLACE_ORDER version=”2.0″]
Additionally, you can use the following shortcodes to add specific checkout components to your page:
- Checkout Form: [WPTRAVELENGINE_CHECKOUT content=”checkout-form”]
- Cart Summary: [WPTRAVELENGINE_CHECKOUT content=”cart-summary”]
- Tour Details: [WPTRAVELENGINE_CHECKOUT content=”tour-details”]
These shortcodes are fully compatible with the default block editor and Elementor.
2. Via Global Settings
In your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to WP Travel Engine > Settings. Then,
- Go to Display > Checkout
- Locate the “Choose Checkout page Template” option and click on New.
Improvements to the WP Travel Engine plugin
In addition to the changes to the checkout, we’ve introduced several new features and enhancements to the core plugin.
Trip Permalink Customization
You can now modify the permalinks for trip tags to categorize your trips better.
Sticky Tabs for Mobile Devices
Sticky tabs are now supported on mobile, where key navigation elements stay accessible as users scroll.
Per Traveller Partial Payment Calculation
Partial payments are now calculated per traveller, providing greater accuracy and transparency in billing.
Additionally, on the new checkout page, when making a partial payment, the label now shows only the required amount in brackets for better clarity.
Bug Fixes
- Coupon Code Issue: 100% discount coupons now work with all payment options.
- Taxonomy Page Sorting: Fixed sorting problems on taxonomy pages with child terms.
- Departure Date Sorting: Corrected departure date sorting on custom trip listing pages.
- Trip Search Shortcode Styling Conflict: Addressed styling conflicts caused by the trip search shortcode with other widgets.
Conclusion
We’re very excited to see your travel business boom with these much-needed enhancements.
