When someone visits your website, the first thing they want to do is find trips that match their plans. But if the search feels slow, confusing, or doesn’t show what they’re looking for, they leave.

That’s exactly what we wanted to fix!

With WP Travel Engine v6.6.0, we’ve completely revamped the Trip Search Page, making it faster, more helpful, and better organized. We focused on small details that make a big difference for both you and your travelers.

What Wasn’t Working Before

  • The layout of the settings was confusing and hard to manage.
  • The search page felt sluggish, cluttered, and not optimized for mobile.
  • Customers had limited filters to choose from.
  • Search results didn’t always match what people wanted.
  • Trip cards looked old-fashioned and didn’t show enough details.

How the Trip Search Page Has Been Upgraded

We’ve improved the Trip Search page with several smart changes to make it easier and more enjoyable to use. Everything is made simple, fast, and intuitive, whether it’s managing settings on the dashboard or searching for your trips on mobile devices.

Faster Loading Times

The Trip Search page now loads only what it needs when it’s needed. This keeps things faster and smoother for your visitors.

Accessible, Mobile-Friendly Design

Everything works smoothly on phones and tablets. Even visitors using a keyboard or screen reader can now easily navigate trips, filters, and buttons. No adjustments needed!

Live Search Bar

We’ve added a new search bar at the top of the trip list. Visitors can type to find trips by name or content instantly. No need to reload the page.

Revamped Display Settings Section

We’ve reorganized the Display Settings to make them more structured and easier to manage.

Previously, you had separate settings like Trip Archive, Trip Card/Listing, and Taxonomy under the Display section.

Now, all these settings are grouped under a single menu called Trip Archive.

Inside the Trip Archive menu, you’ll find three organized tabs:

  • Trip Archive
  • Trip Card Display
  • Trip Taxonomy

This makes customizing your trip listing layout and display settings simple and stress-free.

Optimized Trip Search Filters

We’ve made the filters more flexible and user-friendly, so visitors can quickly narrow down the trips they’re looking for.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Filters update instantly as visitors click, without reloading the page.
  • You can now choose whether to show or hide the sidebar filters on the trip listing page.

To enable/disable sidebar filter:

Go to WP Travel Engine > Settings and open the Display > Trip Archive menu.
Under the Trip Archive tab, scroll down to find the Show Sidebar Filters option.

Other Trip Archive Settings Improvements

We’ve also made several other changes to the Trip Archive settings. We’ve moved, added, and removed some options to make it easier for you to navigate and manage your trip search settings.

  • Added an option to choose how trip search results load (Pagination or Load More) under the Trip Archive tab.
  • Moved the Show Excerpt option from the Taxonomy tab to the Trip Card Display tab under Trip Archive.
  • Removed the New Trip Layout option from Trip Card. The new layout is now set by default.
  • Removed the Toggle Criteria Filter Display option from Trip Archive.
  • Removed the Show Taxonomy Term description option. The description now automatically shows if one is added.
  • Removed the Advanced Search Panel option. It is now always enabled by default.

Smarter Search Experience

Every part of the trip search works together better, from filters to layout to speed. Visitors get what they want without hassle.

Conclusion

Visitors can now explore your trips with less hassle, more clarity, and a seamless booking experience. And for you, it means spending less time troubleshooting and more time growing your business. This isn’t just a new look. It’s a better end-to-end experience!
